EQUINE WELFARE NEW ZEALAND
Website Terms & Conditions
Last updated 14 October 2026
1. About these terms
Welcome to the website of Equine Welfare New Zealand (EWNZ).
By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions, to the extent applicable to your use of the website.
EWNZ is a registered New Zealand charity dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, rehoming and welfare of horses and other equines.
These terms govern use of our website, including donations, enquiries, applications and access to information about our charitable activities.
2. Website information
We aim to ensure information on our website is accurate, current and helpful.
However, information may change, and we cannot guarantee that all content will be complete, accurate or up to date at all times.
Information provided on this website is intended for general educational and informational purposes.
It should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional veterinary, legal or other specialist advice.
3. Donations
Donations made to EWNZ support our charitable activities, including equine rescue, rehabilitation, veterinary treatment, feeding, ongoing care, education and rehoming.
Unless otherwise specified, donations may be allocated to areas of greatest need at EWNZ's discretion, in accordance with our charitable purposes.
Where donations are made for a specific campaign or purpose, we will endeavour to apply those funds to the stated purpose, subject to any applicable donation conditions and legal obligations.
Donations made through our website may be processed by third-party payment providers, including Donorbox and its payment processing partners.
Donation refunds
Donations are generally non-refundable once processed.
However, we understand that mistakes can occur. If you believe a donation was made in error, was duplicated or involved an unauthorised transaction, please contact us as soon as possible at admin@equinewelfarenz.org.
Refund requests will be considered individually, taking into account the circumstances, applicable law and any relevant payment processing requirements.
Approved refunds will generally be returned using the original payment method where practicable.
If a refunded donation has been used to claim a donation tax credit, the donor may be required to repay that credit to Inland Revenue.
Donation receipts
Where applicable, EWNZ will provide donation receipts suitable for New Zealand donation tax credit purposes.
Eligibility for donation tax credits depends on Inland Revenue requirements and the nature of the payment.
Payments made in exchange for goods, raffle tickets or other benefits are not necessarily eligible for donation tax credits.
4. Equine adoption and fostering
EWNZ facilitates the rehabilitation, fostering and adoption of horses and other equines.
Information about animals available for adoption or fostering is provided in good faith and may change as their circumstances, health, behaviour or care requirements develop.
Submitting an application does not guarantee approval or placement of an animal.
EWNZ reserves the right to assess applications, conduct reference and property checks, and make placement decisions based on the welfare and suitability of the animal and the prospective caregiver.
Adoptions and fostering arrangements are subject to separate agreements and any applicable conditions communicated during the application process.
Nothing on this website overrides the terms of a signed adoption or foster agreement.
5. Equine welfare reports
EWNZ provides opportunities for members of the public to raise concerns about the welfare of horses and other equines.
Submitting a report does not guarantee that EWNZ will investigate, attend a property, take an animal into care or achieve a particular outcome.
Our ability to respond depends on available resources, the information provided, legal authority, the circumstances of the animal and other relevant factors.
EWNZ is not an emergency response service or a statutory animal welfare enforcement agency.
Where appropriate, we may refer concerns to relevant animal welfare authorities or other organisations.
People submitting welfare reports are asked to provide accurate, relevant information to the best of their knowledge.
Reports must not knowingly contain false, misleading, malicious or defamatory information.
If an animal is in immediate danger, please contact the appropriate emergency services or animal welfare authorities.
6. Volunteering and participation
Information about volunteering and other opportunities is provided for general guidance.
Submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee acceptance into a volunteer role or programme.
Volunteer participation may be subject to induction, training, safety requirements, supervision and other organisational policies.
EWNZ may decline or discontinue participation where reasonably necessary for safety, animal welfare or operational reasons.
7. Fundraising activities and promotions
From time to time, EWNZ may conduct fundraising events, raffles, competitions or promotional campaigns.
Individual activities may be subject to additional terms, eligibility requirements, entry conditions, closing dates and applicable legal requirements.
Where specific terms apply, these will be provided in connection with the relevant activity.
Participation in a fundraising activity constitutes acceptance of its applicable conditions.
8. Merchandise and online purchases
EWNZ may offer merchandise or other products for sale through its website in the future.
Where products are offered, applicable prices, payment arrangements, delivery information and any additional conditions will be provided at the time of purchase.
Consumer rights under applicable New Zealand legislation, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986, will be respected.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or restrict rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the text, photographs, graphics, logos, branding and other original content on this website belong to EWNZ or are used with permission.
You may view and share links to our website for personal, educational or non-commercial purposes.

Submit information that you know to be false, misleading, threatening or defamatory.
Attempt to interfere with website security or functionality.
Access or attempt to access information or systems without authorisation.
Use website content in a manner that infringes another person's rights.

11. External websites and services
Our website may contain links to external websites, payment services, social media platforms and other third-party resources.
These services are operated independently of EWNZ and may have their own terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for the content, availability, security or privacy practices of external websites, except to the extent required by law.
12. Limitation of liability
EWNZ takes reasonable care in maintaining its website and providing information about its activities.
However, to the extent permitted by law, EWNZ is not responsible for losses arising solely from reliance on general website information, temporary website unavailability or circumstances outside its reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including any rights or remedies available under applicable consumer protection legislation.

14. Changes to these terms

Updated terms will be published on our website with the date of the latest revision.
Changes will apply prospectively and will not retrospectively alter existing agreements or transactions unless lawfully agreed.
15. Governing law
