Bambi is a little bit special to us because she was born in our care.

Her mum came to Equine Welfare NZ as part of a group of miniature horses surrendered by their owners, who had found themselves with more horses than their property could sustainably support following ongoing breeding.

As part of taking the group into care, we arranged for all of the stallions to be gelded, putting an end to the cycle of unplanned breeding.

But there was one final surprise still to come... Bambi.

She was the last foal born from the herd and has been able to grow up with the care, nutrition and handling she needs from the very beginning.
