ANGUS' STORY

Angus, affectionately known as Gus, came into our care when his family lost their grazing and could no longer keep him and the mare he lived with.

Gus was very loved by his family, but he also came with some challenges. He experiences significant back pain, which we continue to monitor and manage, and his stallion-like behaviour can make finding suitable paddock companions difficult.

Because of his ongoing physical and behavioural needs, rehoming Gus wouldn’t be the right option for him. Instead, he will remain within Equine Welfare NZ’s care, where we can make sure his needs are understood and managed throughout his life.

He has formed a wonderful friendship over the fence with one of the horses currently in our care, and we’re hopeful they’ll eventually be able to share a paddock together.

SAFE FOR LIFE

Help us be here for Gus, for as long as he needs us.

Gus may never be available for adoption, but that doesn't make their story any less important. Your support helps provide their feed, veterinary care, farrier care and everything else they need to live safely and comfortably in EWNZ care.
